Senior Cost Specialist Electronics (f/m)

In order to become more competitive on component level, we are currently looking for a full-time Senior Cost Specialist (f/m) within our purchasing team. This corporate role will focus on electronics: PCBAs, motors, solenoids, actuators, mechatronics, wire harnesses, sensors and switches. Your achieved cost savings and performance will help Kongsberg Automotive to grow and support our future needs. The position will be based in our Tech Center in Hallbergmoos near Munich with about 85 employees. Your manager will be the Purchasing Manager Cost Management who is currently also based in Hallbergmoos.

Areas of responsibility and tasks

  • Support Design to Cost optimizations for projects in early development or concept phase in close cooperation with R&D, ensure optimized choice of technology, materials and manufacturing process considering our suppliers’ manufacturing capabilities
  • Support project purchasing and sales with quick cost estimates in the Define and Quote phase
  • Support project purchasing with cost model targets for the supplier awarding process, detailed analysis of cost breakdowns from supplier vs. our internal cost model breakdowns, active support in the negotiations with the suppliers targeted for sourcing
  • Contribute to the Make or Buy decision making process, providing true cost analysis upon request from project management (including in- or out-sourcing cases)
  • Support change management process, verify new price and ensure accuracy in quote from supplier, support the evaluation and the commercial impact of engineering changes
  • Support VSM and VA/VE activities at supplier to optimize cost, e. g. by initiating changes in the manufacturing process or changes on the components
  • Assist project buyers with part price calculation upon request
  • Identify parts in production with cost saving opportunities together with the segment’s purchasing operations and execute supplier negotiation, facilitate relevant cost calculations
  • Perform cost breakdown analysis of supplier prices / quotes
  • Calculate part cost in the calculation software tool TCPCM and compare to price quoted by supplier or to actual price in system
  • Support the development of Cost Model Calculation know-how for additional categories, train the purchasing community and other departments on cost drivers in the different categories
  • Work on establishing a standard process and standard input templates to support the cost model calculation analysis
  • Perform and manage cost reviews or audits at suppliers and ensure implementation of findings

Competence profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or above majored in industrial engineering, engineering or business administration
  • Minimum of five to ten years working experience, within the automotive industry would be advantageous
  • Detailed market knowledge and awareness of current and upcoming technological, manufacturing, market and raw material development trends
  • Strong negotiation skills since you will be heavily involved in the negotiations with the suppliers in order to implement the calculated targets
  • Assertiveness
  • Project management skills would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of sophisticated calculation software, e. g. Siemens TPCM
  • Team player with extended verbal & written communication skills at all levels
  • Energetic, highly self-motivated and detail-oriented with an international mindset
  • Fluent English language skills, both written and verbal
  • Further language skills such as German, Mandarin, Swedish or Polish would be advantageous
