Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical support to the shop floor/plant operations and sustainable engineering solutions in multiple process areas. Apply lean methodology to further enhance operational excellence to support strategic business objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with operational departments to achieve goals and overall product objectives
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts
  • Generate complete documentation for all validation, manufacturing procedures, and customer correspondence
  • Take on “Project Lead” roll ensuring all customer specifications and requirements are understood, communicated to the project team and executed for assigned projects
  • Assist manufacturing in the selection of equipment and procedures to assure product quality conformance
  • Assist manufacturing personnel with problem solving and quality determinations
  • Resolve and respond to customer concerns and non-conforming product through determining root cause of failures and recommend changes in design, tolerance or processes
  • Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving design, materials, or processes
  • Interact with other engineers, designers, maintenance technicians, suppliers and management
  • Coordinates activities for Continuous Improvement Projects within the responsible manufacturing areas
  • Establish DOEs (Design of Experiments) for process and product validation and verification
  • Participates as a cross-functional team member of the APQP launch with focus on Flow Diagrams, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans
  • Apply lean methods to reduce cycle times, lead times, and waste
  •  Other duties as required


  • BS Degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering

Work experience

  • 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting
  • ISO/ TS environment preferred
  • Familiarity with 8D corrective process preferred
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing operation          

Other requirements:

  • MS Office Suite proficiency
  • Must display a constructive attitude – see the opportunity within the challenge
  •  Effective communication skills – both orally and written; must be comfortable communicating with all levels within the organization
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must have demonstrated accomplishments of implementing lean manufacturing
  • Must be well versed in Continuous Improvement methods (i.e. VSM, Standard Work, Mistake Proofing, etc)
