Product Improvement Process (PIP) Coordinator

1.   Main Objectives
The design and development of engineering solutions for vehicle control systems, using automotive industry standard tools and processes.
Working within a professional Project Team to deliver programs from Concept to Production.
Execute Engineering tasks within projects in order to meet schedule, budget, and specifications
2.     Area of Responsibility
Completion of development engineering tasks as identified in Kongsberg Product Development processes (KBD-NPI & PIP).
Insure completion of design documents and properly file into appropriate project folders.
Co-ordinate and manage the manufacture of sample parts with the production plant, including procurement of Tier II manufactured components
3.     Personal Tasks
Act as the key point of contact from Operations regarding all New Product Introductions during the implementation and production start phases of all new programs. 
Coordinate all activities in the factory as related to work cell rearrangements including modifications to tooling as existing products are modified or updated for changing customer requirements. 
Work closely with the MP&L group to optimize the Phase In/Phase Out process specifically to both ensure production readiness and to minimize obsolescence
Work closely with Purchasing to ensure that supply is secured for production as new suppliers are brought on board and existing suppliers are resourced.  Also managing the PIPO process for new or modified parts to minimize obsolescence.  
Manage all Engineering Change Notices within the factory to ensure that the operation is prepared to meet the production dates with all relevant documentation in place.  Eg. Work instructions, Manufacturing Change documentation, Supplier and Customer PPAP’s, etc. 
Support SAP maintenance for tasks such as BOM maintenance, new part set up, routing changes, etc. 
Manages sample requests for prototype builds from the request from product design through the production build and shipment to customer.  Coordinates with all members of the various operations departments to ensure the build is successful and on time.
4.      Competence Profile

Skills, Knowledge, Experience
BS Degree in Engineering.  Mechanical or Industrial preferred.
Good working knowledge of computer systems; MS office, MS Project, MRP
Skilled practitioner in Pro/Engineer or equivalent 3D modelling software and PLM
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Background in Automotive Engineering
Plastic Injection Molded, die cast, and sheet metal part design experience
Electro-mechanical & control systems engineering experience
Degree in Mechanical / Electro Mechanical engineering
LEAN principles / Business Improvement Techniques
Prior mechanism assembly design experience
Strong organization and time management skills – ability to plan and work on multiple, on-going projects
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, at all levels
Must have the ability to work well with others and to establish and facilitate good cooperation and communication.
