Production Planner / Customer Service Rep

Main Objectives

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ordering raw material to support production and the scheduling of production to meet the customers’ needs.  This position will also be the primary interface with the customer regarding receipt of customer orders and the shipments of those same orders.

 Area of Responsibility

  • Day to day communication by telephone, email and other communication methods with defined suppliers and customers
  • Attending daily material shortage meetings

Personal Tasks

  • Ensure that manual orders from customers are entered into SAP in a timely manner
  • Monitor EDI orders to ensure that they are loaded in SAP in accordance with the quoted lead times and MOQ’s  
  • Monitor the current and future production orders including forecast to ensure that production capacity is adequate to meet the needs of the customers
  • Order and track inbound raw material to ensure that components are available to build to customers’ requirements 
  • Expedite inbound or outbound shipments when necessary to ensure there are not disruptions in either our production areas or our customer’s production facilities   
  • Maintain target stock levels of both raw material and finished goods within the facility
  • Enter and maintain part master data in SAP.  Ensure that part setup is accurate so that customer orders move through MRP to drive demand on suppliers  
  • Explore opportunities for improved planning efficiency
  • Work with the plant Finance team to resolve any issues with regard to supplier pricing or customer invoices 

 Main Challenges

  • Plan production based on customer demand. Identify material shortages and production constraints and resolve quickly with minimum impact to production
  • Effective management of inventory to achieve Net Working Capital targets

  • Externally: Customers, Strategic Suppliers, and Other KA BU Functional Departments

 Competence profile

  • 4 year degree from an accredited University in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred
  • Understanding of a Material Planning System (MRP)
  • A high attention to detail and a bias for action
  • Able to prioritize tasks with an appreciation of the meaning “sense of urgency”
  • Experience with or coursework directly related to procurement, dealing with direct material and manufacturing operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with additional expertise in Excel spreadsheets and the ability to use advanced functions for data acquisition and analysis
  • Prefer experience with SAP or other ERP package
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with Customers, Suppliers, local management and Operation’s personnel
